Challenge
University of Missouri - Kansas City Alumni Association launched a new career resources webpage where they could share valuable information with their alumni as well as gather updated employment data.
Solution
UMKC created a segmented email campaign to share the launch of their new career resources webpage, while also taking the opportunity to speak to their audience about volunteering.
Round 1: Emails were sent based on current employer information on file with the alumni association. As part of the professional profile update process, alumni were asked about their interest in volunteering with UMKC. Staff used Encompass role-basing to ask alumni if they were interested in seeing a list of volunteer opportunities, and then provided a list of available opportunities based upon the alumni response.Round 2: Based on first round responses, new email segments were created to thank alumni who updated their employment data, to share volunteer information with those who requested it, and to try and solicit a response from those who did not reply after round one.
Round 3: The final round of emails focused solely on those individuals who had not responded after rounds one and two. To encourage participation, this email highlighted a drawing for a $50 gift card for anyone who updated their information, while also reminding them of the valuable resources available on the alumni association's careers page.
Result
UMKC Alumni Association gathered updated employment information from more than 1,500 alumni and found more than 380 new alumni volunteers.
Seeing the success in response from their alumni, the UMKC team is excited to launch more changes in the coming months, including expanding the career resources landing page into categories with larger visuals and a new layout.
